Committed to Student Success

A Message from Dr. Corlisse Thomas, Senior Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
Sexual & Reproductive health

As we look to the future, our mission is to adapt how we do our work in partnership with others to better meet the needs of all of our students, and to curate an inclusive and integrated experience that helps students feel that they belong and are prepared for life after RU-N.

Students are the changemakers of tomorrow. Our divisional mission is to lead the commitment to their success as learners and contributing community members at this remarkable anchor institution we call home, Rutgers University-Newark. The Division of Student Affairs complements our institutional mission—educating a diverse student body to improve our global society—by providing resources to holistically support all of our students.

As we reflect on the past few years, we take stock in the resiliency of our students and seek to both celebrate and care for the talented student affairs professionals who serve them. As we look to the future, our mission is to adapt how we do our work in partnership with others to better meet the needs of all of our students, and to curate an inclusive and integrated experience that helps students feel that they belong and are prepared for life after RU-N.

The following Strategic Plan outlines how we all commit to this important work, and we invite your support, engagement, and partnership. Arriving at these goals was a community effort as we spoke with hundreds of students, faculty, and staff during the spring of 2024. We engaged our divisional leadership to collaboratively develop and refine these priorities for the next four years. I invite you to review our strategic plan and reflect on how you will contribute toward these goals.

Together, we have greater impact.
