F-1 student visa holders who are currently enrolled at Rutgers University – Newark are to use the F-1 Student Services menu for the following request options.

• Updating new passport information you may have received
• Updating your F-1 visa if you have renewed your visa
• F-2 dependent requests, if you intend to bring your spouse and/or child to the United States
• Students requesting a Reduced Course Load authorization, taking less than full-time study
• Travel Signature Requests
• Students transferring to another SEVP-certified school

F-1 Practical Training menu option is for students who are involved with any type of off-campus employment. This is to be used by current students and alumni for the following options.

• Post-Completion OPT Request
• CPT Authorization Request
• OPT Employment Updates, and if you need an I-20 printout with current employment
• STEM-OPT Extension Application requests
• STEM-OPT Employment updates
• STEM-OPT Required Reporting, 6/12/18/24-month reporting

J-1 Scholar Services is to be used by J-1 exchange visitors for the following request.

• Passport Updates
• J-1 visa updates
• Travel Authorization Requests
• Final Departure from the United States

In the online check-in process, you will be asked to upload scans or photos of your passport biographical page, visa page, your I-20/DS-2019, and I-94. Transfer Students: You need to upload all the I-20 forms you've ever had (including the new one). Packing them in one file is fine.

If you are on campus, you will have access to computer labs in your academic school. An alternative way is to take good quality pictures with your phone and convert them to pdf before uploading. There are multiple apps that can help you with that, such as CamScanner, or Google Drive.
