The word career definitely used to scare me, and I know it scares a lot of other people, but at the CDC we provide personalized assistance that doesn’t overwhelm the students.
Bio: Kaylen Lane is an undergraduate at Rutgers University-Newark majoring in Psychology, with a minor in Criminal justice. In spring 2021, she joined the Career Development Center (CDC) as a career peer and has had the pleasure of being a part of all six of the CDC's committees. Currently, Kaylen is the head of the Logistics Committee and assists the external relations team, career development team, and first destinations/outcomes team. While working at the CDC, she had the opportunity to work on herself as a person and build those hard and soft skills. As a career peer and a student, Kaylen has tried to lead with empathy and take into consideration what students want as a collective. While being a career peer, she also received a certification as a Peer Educator. Kaylen's words of encouragement would be "If you are afraid to take a chance, take one anyway. What you don't do can create the same regrets as the mistakes you make" (Iyanla Vanzant).
