Medical Care

Student Health Services is where you go for basic primary care services. Our exams include a history review, discussion of current concerns, a thorough physical, laboratory screening tests, appropriate cancer-screening tests, and at times tests specific to a medical condition.

Primary care also includes periodic age-appropriate health assessments, evaluation, testing, and treatment for accidents or illnesses, acute or chronic.

LGBTQ+ Health & Sexual Health

No matter where you fall on the gender and sexual identity spectrum, you can feel comfortable visiting the Rutgers University–Newark Health & Wellness team. We are here to support your mental, physical, and sexual health to help you stay strong at school. You can expect our Health Service staff to be sensitive and knowledgeable about gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning students' medical issues and needs.  We also provide appropriate screening, health educational literature and counseling, treatment, and/or referrals for specific concerns.

Immunization Requirements

We prioritize the health and safety of all our students, which is why we do as much as we can to prevent diseases through immunization. Immunization is required for many activities at Rutgers University–Newark, and you will not be allowed to participate unless you get specific immunizations.
