Student Health Services

Rutgers University Health Services in Newark is composed of a diverse team of healthcare providers including doctors and nurses. Our clinicians are Board Certified in their specialties. Our team is committed to providing excellent comprehensive, culturally sensitive primary care to our diverse student body. All care is confidential and we see all full-time students free of charge as long as they are insured (exclusive of lab fees). We are here to support the wellness of our students body.

Medical Care

Taking charge of your own well-being and staying vigilant about your health is a fundamental aspect of personal wellness. Student Health Services provides the following care for all students:​

  • Annual well visits/physicals including routine bloodwork such as cholesterol levels and blood sugar​

  • Treatment of acute illnesses such as colds, flu, and UTIs as well as injuries such as sprains or strains​

  • Mental health treatment​

  • Sexual and reproductive health services, including testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), contraception and annual GYN exams ​

  • Gender-affirming care, including hormone therapy​

  • Management of chronic illnesses, such as asthma or diabetes​

  • Immunizations and allergy injections​

  • Travel medicine
