Bias Education Reporting Team
The Bias Education and Reporting Team (BERT) at Rutgers University - Newark envisions a safe, affirming, and inclusive community for all students to learn and work together in alignment with the University's commitment to champion diversity of thought, experience, and identity. BERT exists to provide support-related resources to individuals who have experienced a bias incident.
Resources BERT can provide
- Assist in the coordination of support resources needed to respond to reported bias incidents
- Act as an intermediate facilitator
- Develop and facilitate educational training and workshops
- Provide training to students, faculty & staff
Have you experienced a bias incident?
Reports can be made directly via our online reporting system
- Report dangerous or emergency situations by contacting Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD).
- For other incidents that do not involve an emergency, the BERT team can be contacted at biasreporting@newark.rutgers.edu.

Bias statistics are reported for the Rutgers University–Newark community to understand and address bias-related incidents on campus. Tracking these incidents helps us take meaningful steps to prevent them and foster a safer, more inclusive campus environment.
