Community Engagement & Service Learning
Part of what makes Rutgers University–Newark exceptional is our commitment to the concept of community, which expands from our city to the globe. All of our students are welcome to treat the world as a living-learning space, using skills learned in the classroom to brainstorm solutions to the most challenging problems.
Community Engagement & Service Learning programs encourage students to become active citizens and change agents within the campus and local community. A variety of programs introduce Rutgers University-Newark students to issues related to social justice, civic engagement, and volunteer opportunities. Programs provided through the Office of Student Life and Leadership include Community Engagement Day, Rutgers Against Hunger initiatives, and Alternative Spring Break.
