Mission Statement

The Office of Title IX and ADA Compliance and Rutgers University is committed to fostering an environment that is safe and secure and free from sexual and gender-based discrimination and harassment, sexual violence, dating and domestic violence and stalking. In support of this commitment, the Office of Title IX and ADA Compliance’s mission is to effectively address complaints of prohibited conduct that fall under Title IX, to focus on increasing awareness regarding sexual violence, preventing its occurrence, supporting all parties involved in Title IX matters and dealing fairly and firmly with offenders. It is also the Office’s mission to provide an inclusive environment for those students with disabilities and to ensure that they have the necessary resources to succeed at Rutgers University-Newark.

Vision Statement

The Office of Title IX and ADA Compliance, in conjunction with other University partners, is determined to create an all-inclusive educational environment driven by our students. To create an empowered environment where our students are the leaders of driving the position that, “Interpersonal Violence and discrimination is not acceptable and will not be tolerated at Rutgers University-Newark.” Through Restorative Justice and Bystander Intervention initiatives, we seek to empower our student by to take responsibility for our campus. Consistent with the Rutgers University-Newark philosophy that, “We R The Ones” the Office of Title IX and ADA Compliance seeks to support initiatives that will provide the knowledge, skills and abilities for our students to standup against interpersonal violence and discrimination.

Title IX badge for certifications and trainings

Section 106.45(b) of the 2020 Final Title IX Rules require the sharing of “All materials used to train Title IX Coordinators, investigators, decision-makers, and any person who facilitates an informal resolution process. A recipient must make these training materials publicly available on its website, or if the recipient does not maintain a website the recipient must make these materials available upon request for inspection by members of the public.” A full list of trainings can be found on this webpage in the dropdown labeled 'Certifications and Trainings' below.
